All GM Car and Truck Weekend Jam Poker Run Rules

The All-GM Car and Truck Weekend Jam Poker Run is designed to be a fun event where participants will be given clues about locations where they will need to take a photograph of themselves, there vehicle, and the location in the picture. A total of 5 locations will be provided for the participant to seek out and obtain the required photographs.   This must be done in the allotted time period for the event.  This is NOT a speed event. Sufficient time will be given for participants to get to the locations, take the required picture and return to Brutal Off Road.  Again, this is not a speed event.

Once you obtain all 5 photos, or ones that you could complete, return to Brutal Off Road to draw your cards based upon the total number of pictures taken (5 in total).

A master scoresheet for each participant will be used. It is up to the participant to ensure the correct hand is documented before leaving the table.

To avoid confusion and disappointment, it is important that any poker run has clear ground rules which all participants understand:

* The first thing to stress is that although this is a "run", there are no prizes for speed - it does not matter who is first to complete the course. It is not a race.

* The winning hand is determined by standard poker hand rankings. It should be clear that five cards can be used to build the winning hand. There will be no use of "wild cards". Players will be allowed to buy up to 2 extra cards at any point.

*AACC will be using One decks of cards and each participant will only be able to draw one card for each photograph as stipulated. Should the participant draw a duplicate card, they will return the card to the deck and draw another card. The previous card will be put at the bottom of the deck or inserted into it.

*AACC rule is that no duplicate cards will be allowed in a hand. - There needs to be clear guidance on what happens if a player draws a hand that they already have. This is a situation which never occurs in "real life" poker, and it should not be allowed to happen on any poker run either. The reason is simple - poker hand rankings are based on the likelihood of each hand occurring, and if duplicate cards are allowed the probabilities of a given hand change. It becomes easier to get four of a kind if you are allowed to have two examples of the King of Hearts in your hand for example. The easiest and fairest solution is to have players re-draw any cards that are duplicates. For example, if you draw the seven of clubs and you already have the seven of clubs on your score card, then you must put the card back and re-draw another card.

* AACC rules require that each participant must have a photograph from each location with their vehicle and their face in the photograph. It is unlikely that any participant in a charity event would seek to cheat, but in order to ensure there are no disputes about what cards a participant actually drew there needs to be a clear, written record of each card drawn. It is the participants' responsibility to check their score sheet to ensure that the card they drew is correctly recorded on their score sheet.

By keeping to the above rules, a poker run should be a fun and enjoyable event for all concerned. Organizers should also ensure that the route of the run itself is safe, and the checkpoints are suitable establishments for large numbers of people to gather at. If your poker run involves large changes to traffic flow then you should contact your local authorities to advise them in advance of the event.

Note: Every effort will be made by the AACC event organizer to ensure we have good clues to make the event fun. However, each member will be allowed one life line to the Event lead for assistance in solving a clue. Use it wisely 
